These terms govern Māteriā Affinity, our rewards program, and Refer a Friend, our referral program, both operated by Materia, LLC ("Māteriā," "we," "us," or "our"). By joining or participating in either program, you agree to these terms. These terms are part of, and incorporate, our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; if there is a conflict specific to the programs, these terms control.

Fair use: rewards are personal to your account, have no cash value, and are for genuine use. We may withhold or void points and rewards, and disqualify accounts, for fraud or abuse.

Changes: we may modify, pause, or end either program, or change how points and rewards work, at any time.
1. General terms (both programs)
1.1 Eligibility. Both programs are open to individuals who are at least 18 years old, reside in the United States, and have a Māteriā account. You create an account by signing in with a one-time email code or with Shop. Participation is free.
1.2 Your account. Points and rewards are tied to a single Māteriā account and are personal to the account holder. You may hold only one account for the purpose of the programs. Points and rewards have no cash value; they cannot be sold, transferred, assigned, or redeemed for cash, except that referral links are intended to be shared as described in Section 3.
1.3 Discount codes and combining offers. Discount codes earned through either program are single-use and tied to your account. Whether a code can be combined with other codes or offers is determined by the limits applied at checkout, and those limits may change. A code cannot be reused once redeemed.
1.4 Returns and cancellations. If an order is cancelled, returned, or refunded, we may deduct any points earned on that order and void or reverse any reward that was issued or applied in connection with it.
1.5 Fraud, abuse, and disqualification. We may, at our discretion, disqualify you from either program, withhold or void points and rewards, cancel orders, and close accounts if we believe you have engaged in fraud or abuse, created accounts or orders to obtain rewards you would not otherwise earn, or otherwise violated these terms or our Terms of Service. Any determination of abuse is in our sole discretion.
1.6 Changes to the programs. We may modify, suspend, or terminate either program, or change how points and rewards are earned, redeemed, or valued, at any time and without notice. We may also introduce new ways to earn, membership tiers, or other features in the future. Changes take effect when posted, unless we state otherwise.
1.7 Relationship to other terms. Your participation is also governed by our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, including how we collect and use the information associated with your account and activity.
2. Māteriā Affinity (our rewards program)
2.1 Joining and earning. You join Māteriā Affinity, our rewards program, automatically when you create a Māteriā account. You earn points for the actions below. Current earning values are shown in the rewards interface on our website and are subject to change:

Points for purchases are calculated on the price of the products you buy and do not include taxes or shipping. We may limit how often an action can earn points, and we may require that an action be genuine (for example, an actual published review or a real opt-in) before points are awarded.
2.2 Redeeming points. You can choose to redeem accumulated points for a discount toward an order. Current redemption options are:

The current point cost and discount value of each reward are shown in the rewards interface and are subject to change. When you redeem points, they are deducted from your balance and you receive a discount code.
2.3 Reward codes and expiration. A redeemed discount code is single-use and applies to one order or one subscription renewal. Reward codes expire 12 months after they are issued. If a reward code expires without being used, the points you redeemed for it are returned to your balance.
2.4 Points expiration. Points do not currently expire. If we introduce a points-expiration policy in the future, we will update these terms and, where appropriate, notify you.
3. Refer a Friend (our referral program)
3.1 How it works. If you have a Māteriā account, you can share your unique referral link with people you know. The person you refer is a "friend." A referral qualifies only when your friend is a new customer who has not purchased from Māteriā before.
3.2 Your friend's reward. When your friend uses your referral link, they receive $20 off their first order, applied automatically at checkout. This offer is valid on a first order for new customers only.
3.3 Your reward. When your referred friend places their qualifying first order, you receive a single-use $20 discount code that you can apply to your next order or, if you subscribe, to a subscription renewal, plus 50 points in Māteriā Affinity, our rewards program. Your $20 referral code is single-use and expires 12 months after it is issued.
3.4 Referral window. A referral is credited only if your friend places their first order within 90 days of using your referral link.
3.5 Genuine referrals only. Referral rewards are for recommending Māteriā to other people. You may not refer yourself, and you may not create accounts, orders, or identities to claim referral rewards. Referrals may not qualify where the referrer and the friend share a sign-up IP address or a similar shipping or billing address, or where an order has no value. We use these and other signals to detect and prevent referral abuse.
3.6 Timing and reversals. Referral rewards are issued after the qualifying first order is placed. If that first order is later cancelled, refunded, returned, or found to violate these terms, we may withhold, reverse, or void the related rewards for both the friend and the referrer.
4. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised terms here and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued participation after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
